Winter Aconite Bulbs

Winter Aconite - Eranthis cilicica

Buttercup-yellow flowers sitting on a green collar of leaves, opening at ground level in the middle of winter. It flowers alongside snowdrops and the two are often planted together for the colour contrast. The tubers are small and dry, so they benefit from a soak before going in.

Soak the tubers overnight, then plant in groups of 25 or more under deciduous trees or shrubs. Left undisturbed, they slowly spread into a carpet, so they are better in the ground than in pots.

Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten.
